Eric Dutt
Amateur golfer, ambassador, benefactor
Mr. Eric Dutt comes from what can be called the First Family of Las Vegas Golf. Mr. Dutt was raised in a golf family—his siblings are active in the Las Vegas golf community--within a 9-iron from what was then called the Sahara-Valley Country Club where celebrities, professionals, and the game’s best players teed it up. Mr. Dutt still vividly recalls watching the best of the PGA Tour play in the Sahara Invitational in the 1970’s, and those memories helped mold a young player’s mind. Mr. Dutt enjoyed a very good amateur career in the Las Vegas area—he won the Nevada State Amateur as a 17-year old, then the youngest champion ever--before attending Purdue University, where he helped lead the Boilermakers to the NCAA tournament and a 1981 Big Ten Conference Championship over the perennially dominant Ohio State Buckeyes, then ranked number two in the country. But the biggest impact of Mr. Dutt has come on the business and philanthropic side of the Las Vegas golf community. Mr. Dutt has operated several of Las Vegas’ best golf courses including Cascata and Rio Secco Golf Club, current home courses for Tiger Woods’ charity events and the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge, where some of the world’s best pros play against each other. He is a past board member of the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association and also served as the executive director of the Southern Nevada Golf Association for several years, during which time he helped elevate the Nevada Open to a prominent event on the regional schedule. “His becoming a member of the Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame is an honor that is overdue for Eric, and is very deserving,” says Brady Exber, a 2006 inductee. “Eric has accomplished just about everything you can in golf in Las Vegas, from being one of the best players, to giving his time to worthy causes, to operating some of the finest golf courses in the area.”
